Mermaids

So many people hear the word mermaid, and think Disney's Little mermaid. And others think evil. When I think mermaid, I think they are a mirror image of what you put out to the world.

Yes, mermaids are real. You can connect with them, feel their presence, and can even pretend to be a mermaid. Lots of little girls have played mermaid in the bath or pool. It's that innocence, before you're told what's real and what's not that makes EVERYTHING REAL!

Mermaids have a long history of luring men into dangerous waters, or even convincing them by their song, to jump off the boat to their death. However some were able to keep their lives. Like Ulysses, he followed advice and plugged his ears and bound himself to the mast of his ship to safely sail past the mermaids.

I strongly believe that your integrity has a lot to do with how and why mermaids may lead you to your death. The good hearted, honest, men were able to slip past the mermaids and use crafty measures saved their own lives. Those who were dishonest, and had heavy hearts of deceit and lies, could not find a way to detour the mermaids song, and ultimately met their death.

The mermaid is much like your trials in this world, and the ocean is your life. How you deal with the mermaids (trials) will determine many outcomes in your life (oceans).  The lure of a mermaid is magical in itself. They're beautiful, mysterious, and elusive. So many of your trials in this life are the same way. No matter if they're good or bad trials, all trials are beautiful and mysterious.

"A mermaid found a swimming lad,
Picked him for her own,
Pressed her body to his body,
Laughed; and plunging down
Forgot in cruel happiness
That even lovers drown."

                                          William Butler Yeats
