So, what's the deal with New Years resolutions? Seems everyone makes one to either lose weight or get a new job etc.. I don't have a resolution that is going to start on January 1st, I like to make changes all throughout the year and look at the bigger picture. My weight loss/healthy journey started in December with changing to a Paleo/Primal lifestyle.

I am most excited about 2013 because we will build our cabin that we will live in while building our earthship over the next few years. We will start our first garden here, my first outdoor HERB (!!!) garden that will appeal to my witchy side and finally get "settled" in. I guess moving here in August wasn't the best idea, we're just powering through the winter at the moment, but baby steps!!

All that aside, many people feel empowered when they set a date to achieve a goal. Whatever goal that may be, I hope for many that it comes true!

Some things I hope to accomplish, aside from what I've already stated, is to find a homeschooling group close by for my kids to get some interaction, sign them up for dance classes and hopefully some singing lessons for my oldest.

Personally, I hope to find somewhere I can volunteer and help out, maybe an animal shelter or a soup kitchen. I want to step out of my comfort zone in 2013 and do things I've always wanted to do.... I can't wait to see what 2013 will have in store for me, my family and friends!

Some R&R. . .

When one of my best friends asked me to take an impromptu trip to Florida with her shortly after Thanksgiving, I wasn't quite sure if we would seriously go or not. My mind was reeling with thinking about what to pack, being on the beach again, listening to the roar of the ocean, and the sand between my toes. All I could manage to say was a loud, "SHOOT YEAH, I'll go with you!"

A few short days later, by short I mean three days, we were on the road to my spiritual home. Not necessarily Florida, but the ocean. (I am an avid collector of shells, dolphin pictures, etc. etc. All the more so if it specifically from the ocean.)  The journey there was long, we had her four kids ranging from 10 years to 4 months old, which is why we traveled mostly at night.

Our first day on the beach, and I was already in heaven! The temps were so warm, and the water was cool. Shells were everywhere, the literally covered this beach! And yup, I brought some awesome ones home too!

To sit there on the beach, even with everyone around, was the most amazing feeling in the world! The only people I wanted there more was my husband and 7 year old son! Sea shell hunting is an amazing time where you just browse through what Poseidon has washed up for you. It's like you're own present from the God of the Sea! When you find a good one, it's like he's telling you, "Good job! You came home!"

My heart couldn't be any happier on the ocean, unless my boys were with me! Walking down the shore line, going for a stroll on the pier  it didn't matter, I was HOME! I had finally made it back to where my heart was calling me to go!
Nothing more beautiful than a sunset and palm trees! Or at least to my heart! THIS, this, is what life is about! Stopping and smelling the salt in the air, watching the sun sink beneath the ocean, feeling the breeze on your skin. . . all silently thanking you for coming home to them! Reminding you where your whole heart needs to be, me, my husband and my kids! I was so happy I cried several times just to be on the beach. . Just to sit in the presence of such beauty, to know I could reach out the sift the sand through my hands, feel the waves on my feet, I was in awe!

Life will always pass too quickly. No matter what you have planned, or don't have planned. Being back on the beach, watching the waves, reminded me that the here and now is all we have. Planning and looking toward the future is great, but we aren't promised that. Make the most of today, tomorrow won't come, and yesterday is but a dream. Don't take for granted yourself, or others. Love and be loved. NOTHING is more powerful than love!

What in the world is going on?

This week's blog is just going to be some random thoughts from - well - us as a collective.  There have been a few things that we've all been talking about privately for a couple weeks and I'd like to get the opinions of the masses.

We know that the shift is coming and it's coming soon.  Earth asked the all important question of wether or not all of us being sick (most have colds, with mild fevers, the kids have been sick, and I personally ended up with a sinus infection) could remotely have to do with the idea that the shift is coming. I told her that I thought that it was a very good possibility, ya know, a purging type thing.

I'm seeing, in my local community, more and more awareness with natural health and natural healing practices.  I'm seeing so many more people that are willing to take hold of their own health and not just go with the masses.  What are you seeing in your community? What are you seeing in your everyday life?  What are you seeing within your core group?

We're really seeing that the natural health alternative is what is making our lives easier and that it has been coming down to taking control of your own health.  Here's a link to a video that we've all watched recently.  Please, take a look at it and see what we mean when we say that NOW is the time for taking control of your health and your life.

We'd love to hear from you either here or on our Facebook page!  The Sisters Elemental Facebook page.

Our Journey with Self-Sustainable Living

It all started a few years ago when my husband took up hiking (up mountains) as a sport. It gradually turned into an even bigger interest of how to do things "naturally" in the wood like in the old days. Now, this type of information has always appealed to me. One of my favorite books as a child was Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen and that was followed by Brian's Winter. Even as a child, any book that revolved around living in the wild got me completely absorbed in it's story, I loved them!

Through our research of self-sustainability, it led us to learn more about the environment, society and food in general. I was more focused on the environment  food, healthy eating, and natural healing  as it all tied in together. Well, truth be told, the self-sustainable living also has an extremely strong foothold in all of this as well.

We lived the typical life in the city at the time and never had any money. Everything went to bills and constantly working, there was never any living and we were tired of it. We were tired of feeling like puppets for the government and society, we wanted to live OUR way.

After about a year and a half of researching, we decided that we were going to go off-grid. We didn't have a set plan of how we were going to do this, but darnit, we WERE going to do it. First thing we did was move out of our house. We bought an RV and this year we bought our 16 acres of land in MO. From the point we fully decided we were going to do this, it took us one year to find land, buy it and move on it. Not even a solid plan of how we were going to get to where we wanted, but we just believed it was going to happen, and it is!

This next year will be spent on building an eco-home. There are so many options from earthship, to earthbag, cinderblock, cob, haybale, cordwood and many more...

Eco home, solar panels, rain catching, donkeys, chickens, goats, garden, green house - oh my, I can't wait!

Poseidon, God of the Sea

Poseidon, also known as Neptune, is God of the ocean and is also known for his hand in earthquakes.

Zeus, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera are siblings to Poseidon.

Symbols for Poseidon are, the trident, dolphins, horses, and bulls.

According to Plato, Atlantis is Poseidon's chosen stomping ground.

After the defeat of Cronus, the three brothers, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon divided up the seas, sky, and underworld, and all three rules the Earth and Olympus.

There are many who believe that Poseidon, and other brothers and sisters were swallowed by Cronus and that Zeus saved them. Others believe that Rhea tricked Cronus into believe she's given birth to a colt to save Poseidon, and hid him.

Legend has it that Poseidon was married to Amphitrite. Yet, was quite busy lusting after others including mortal women and having children with them also. A few of the more popular children of Poseidon are Atlas (one of the first rulers of Atlantis), and Theseus.

If choosing Poseidon as your Patron God, just remember, he can be tricky. Be patient and listen, or you might get serious emotional tidal waves! I would suggest having things that are oceanic in nature, like salt water, shells, etc. Poseidon is an amazing one to work with, and having a connection to the ocean, he is one of my all time favorites! :)

Aconite, Wolfsbane & Monkshood

Aconite's are perennials and grow to about 4ft tall on average. The colors vary, depending on the species of Aconitum, however the most common are yellow, blue and purple.
All members of the genus Aconitum are poisonous, as are all parts of the plant, including the sap. Wear gloves when handling and wash hands afterwards. It should never be grown around children or pets.

Lore
This is the plant that was used by witches as their "flying ointment" as it causes hallucinations. Arrow tips were dipped in this so they became poisonous. Most notably, said to protect from werewolves, hence, where the term Wolfsbane was derived.

Spiritual Correspondences
Gender: Feminine
Planet: Saturn
Sign: Capricorn
Element: Water
Deities: Hekate, Medea
Uses: Cleansing ritual space, cleansing away negativity, invoking Hekate

Medicinal Correspondences
Lowers the rate and strength of pulse, used for pneumonia, feverish colds, croup, and heart conditions.
Also used for rheumatism and arthritis as well as many others. A common herb used in homeopathic preparations and Chinese medicine.

Past Lives, Reincarnation, and Past Lives Regressions

I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in a workshop hosted by a local metaphysical shop and given by Bobby Sullivan.  My dear husband (DH from here on out for the purpose of this blog) tagged along since past lives and reincarnation isn't something he had heard about until he and I got together.

Walking into the workshop I was a bit leery because of my preconceived notions as to what was going to happen. Bobby opened with introductions and made me feel very comfortable. He started out with, while he had his own ideas as to things, we were welcome to share our own thoughts with him too. Admittedly, the following blog is based on notes I took and they're a bit scrambled since we jumped around a bit. So bear with me while I try to make this into a cohesive blog from notes!

Here are some of Bobby's thoughts:

  • Souls are energy and can be here and the other side of the veil at the same time.
  • Souls being energy, can have multiple present lives at the same time.
  • Souls can Astral Travel at night to change charts, soul contracts, and possibly make new exit points. (I'll go into charts and soul contracts in a bit.)
  • Fears are the #1 way that past lives show up in present lives.
  • We run parallel lives of conscious and un-conscious at any time.

Souls
Souls are energy, right? So if they're energy, who says they can't divide that energy into multiple places at the same time? Well, this is a theory I haven't ever heard or given thought to, but I am now!  If souls can divide energy, then they can have part here, part on the other side of the veil. Or, here's a mind-bender, souls can have part here in multiple present lives and still have part on the other side of the veil!

Bobby explained it like this, what if you were you but part of your soul was also here as a firefighter in Denver? Or if another part was a 90-year-old lady in Japan? What a mind-bender that is, huh! I admit, when Bobby first started talking about it, I was floored and thought he was completely crazy! But the more I think about it, the more I'm believing that it could and does happen!

Now, more than just the energy divided, we started talking about souls traveling to the other side of the veil (which I'm calling Astral Travel for the sake of arguments). We talked about how at night, during sleep cycles, our souls travel back to the other side of the veil to rework charts if need be and to negotiate soul contracts too. A very interesting concept!

Charts and Soul Contracts
Now, since we can Astral Travel back to the other side of the veil to rework charts and soul contracts, I should explain a little more about both.

Charts house the lessons, paths we're meant to be on, and significant life happenings throughout a soul's present life. There could be multiple charts for some souls if they have multiple present lives at once. Something that is major in these charts is exit points.  These points are put into our charts as an "out" should this get to be something we didn't bargain for.  Typically we place five to six of these throughout our present lives.  The first exit is more likely than not within the first year of life. Bobby also explained that when we exit our present life, we start working other charts for a new life.

The question came up, "what about suicide?"  While he was not trying to down play suicide as it is something that can be prevented most of the time, he also believes that it is our one floating (free will) exit or "get out of jail free" card during a present life.  He also stressed that sometimes, suicide is a mean to rectify a chart that went horribly wrong. It could also be in a soul contract with another soul to help your soul or someone else's with a lesson in this life. Or it could be completely Karmic (i.e. in a past life you bullied someone to the point of suicide and in this life your soul's lesson is to know what that other soul went through) for one reason or another. And then again, it may be used as an exit point because the soul is in a repeating pattern that they can not get out of and "need to start over". Again, neither he nor I are making light of suicides.  If someone is suicidal and you know it, please get them the help they need!

How Past Lives Show Up in Present Lives
Fears are the number one way that past lives rear their heads!  Think about it, have you ever had an irrational fear of crossing bridges, being in large bodies of water, choke if someone touches the back of your neck, or any number of things? Sometimes that can be attested to cell memory from a past life. If you have a fear that is inexplainable, try a past life regression to try remember that cell memory. It might help you get past that fear.

Other ways past lives come out is in places, foods, and smells.  Ever look at some place like a ruined keep in Scotland and think, "I've been there, don't know when since I've never been to Scotland, but I've been there"? Or maybe you've liked East Indian food your whole life but don't know why since you were raised in Minot, North Dakota? Maybe you've smelled a fragrance that you KNOW you've never smelled before but recognize it anyways. Everything is linked to cell memories from past lives that we carry into present lives. Most times, with past life regressions, you can help those cell memories leave if you want them to, like the fears.

Parallel Lives
Bobby had another interesting theory. We run parallel lives during a present life so that we can see how life would've been had we chosen the red pill over the blue one.  Well, you get the gist of that. It's real simple, we have opposite lives during present lives to see how it would change our life to choose one decision over the other.  We stop creating these parallel lives when we are making every choice in our life completely out of self love. We still have the ability to choose our lives, and choose our endings.

My Thoughts and Experiences
Spending two plus hours with Bobby was incredible.  He gave me a lot to think about and I tend to agree with his take on past lives and reincarnation.

I did have a question for him about my oldest son though when we were talking about soul dividing and being here but being on the other side as well.  I have always felt, and have been told by numerous Mediums and Intuitives that my Bubba has one foot here and one foot beyond the veil.  I've been told that it's going to be a chore for me to keep him in this world because he yearns to be on the other side so very badly.

You see, this is it for him.  This is his soul's last go-round and it was supposed to be an easy life.  Well, it didn't end up that way for him.  He was born at 26 weeks gestation (14 weeks too early), was hospitalized for the first 15.5 weeks of his life, ended up having brain bleeds when he was days old causing him to have cerebral palsy in his right side, had an MRSA resistant staph infection that almost killed him, and has ADHD on top of it all. He never signed up for any of this in his charts or soul contracts.  This was NOT expected at all when he decided it was time for his last stand.  Now, even though he's here and he's a well adjusted 9-year-old, his soul still isn't completely happy to be here. I've always felt that it was going to be a struggle for me in this life to keep him grounded enough to stay here.  Who am I kidding? It has been a struggle and lesson for me since the day he was born.  He had at least three (yes, 3) exit points, that I know of, in the first 15 weeks of his life!  He tried to take the first one, we pulled him back and fought with him to stay here, but he fought through the next two himself. I now wonder when an exit point is going to show again because I know for a fact that I'm going to have to fight him on taking it!

So, the question for Bobby was, "do you believe that someone can have one foot here and one foot beyond the veil in a present life as a child?"  His answer was yes, definitely! He explained that he's seeing more and more children like this.  They have a hard time maintaining their vibration here and beyond the veil because they are higher beings. He recommended that we work on maintaining vibrations and grounding with Bubba.  I did ask too if he was able to help us with that in learning how to help Bubba accomplish maintaining vibrations and grounding.  He was happy to offer his help, so we're looking into getting Bubba with Bobby for a few sessions.

Once we were done with the workshop we took a quick 10 minute break to feed the parking meters and made a quick potty stop.  When we came back it was time to do the mini regressions.

The first regression took a little bit of time since he needed to get us into the "trance" needed for regressions to happen.  My first regression took me back to the life I had in Tudor Era England.  I was the sister-in-law of Lady Jane Seymour. I could see the high fields of grains, I could feel the dress I wore around my legs and ankles, I could hear the sounds of the area. We progressed into a happy memory. I saw my marriage to my husband in that life and the children we had together.  When asked to progress to a regret in that life, I saw myself along with my Earth sister (who also had a life at that time) hovering over the bed of Queen Jane as she lay dying after the birth of Edward. With seeing this my heart sank.  Now asked to move to our death beds, I saw myself drink out of a chalice and felt like I couldn't breathe.  We (Earth, Water and I) have always thought that I was poisoned in that life and did not die of natural causes as the information about me would have you believe.  This just confirmed that idea.

DH said that in his first past life regression, he had just visited his childhood. No more elaboration than that.

My second regression was a life in Scotland as a man.  I came from a very humble home, one built basically of mud and a thatch roof. The happy time was at home with my small family, I don't think I was married though as it looked like it was just Mum, Da, a brother and me at a table.  The death bed scene was dying on the field of battle because I stood up for the cause that I believed in.  Looking down I saw what resembled a MacGregor tartan like the thatch of the one below.  This life deserves some more research for sure!

The MacGregor Tartan curtsy of  The Scottish Register of Tartans

DH said that his second past life regression ended with him coming up out of a tunnel or root cellar next to a home that looked a lot like this grandparent's homestead. Thinking about it more, he concedes that it quite possible had been a Civil War life that he had visited. Because he doesn't know much about past lives and was just exploring that he could have missed some important keys as to what time he was entering. He does know that he was male in that life too.

I really hope that you've enjoyed this blog this week!  This is something that I am very passionate about and I am enjoying exploring!  If you'd like to see Bobby's website click here! There is a bio on him there, and you can see the services he offers.  If you're around the Minneapolis/ St. Paul, Minnesota area and wish to explore some workshops, you can visit Eye of Horus' website  to see more workshops that Bobby and some of the others are going to be leading.

As always, we would love to hear from you with any thoughts, ideas, or discussion about our blogs.  You can always visit us at our Facebook Page too!

Dia De Los Muertos

The Day of the Dead, November 1, traditionally the day after Halloween. All Saint's Day, Catholicism  being November 2.

This is a day where, traditonally, in Mexico, there is a huge celebration to remember the dead. They have in the past set up private altars, with sugar skulls, favorite beverages and foods of the deceased, marigolds, and some possessions to honor their loved ones past.

Usually this is a three day process, in which the grave is cleaned, decorated and those honoring are saying prayers, telling stories, etc. The idea is that by doing this, the souls of those departed will hear the prayers of the living and come visit. The veil is the thinnest around this time, which makes visiting easier.

Oft times here in the States, usually further south in Arizona, or Texas, there are parades and participants usually dress up! Much like children do on Halloween. This is honorary, and many dress up as skeletons.

I hope you all have a wonderful celebration for your loved ones past! As well as I hope you have a great Samhain! I really fell more connected now with this than I did in the past. Life is ever changing and we can't always predict how something will affect us.

Earthy thoughts . . .

Our Fire Sister has been after me for awhile to write an introductory post about myself and the Earth element.  It took me a long time to figure out what exactly to write about; why I’m connected most strongly to the earth, or how, or any other of what seemed like a billion ideas that occurred to me.

Do I start with the name I’ve made for myself - “greenchild” or that I’ve been a High Priestess in a far past life, and hung for being a Healer (aka witch) in a more recent one? I’m able to call upon that knowledge when I need it, but it’s not my focus in this life.  So then I thought, I can write about what IS my focus in this life that has to do with the Earth.  It’s still healing, that is what I do, what I am.  In this life my focus is on nutrition; getting back to what the Earth has to offer rather than what I like to call “FDA-approved non-foods”.  My son is my catalyst in this life.  He has special needs, and diet plays an enormous role.  Because of him, we follow what’s called the paleo or caveman diet.  It is quite simple even though it sounds complex – dairy-free, grain-free, legume-free, and nightshade-free.  That eliminates most of the Standard American Diet, so unfortunately many people are unwilling to give it a try – “life with no pizza, no cookies, no candy? You MUST be joking!”

homemade bacon, maple-glazed
rutabaga & parsnips, apple slices
Again, it sounds complex but isn’t.  We keep a garden in the summer; we shop in the produce aisle and eat whole fresh foods.  We got to know our local farmers and get antibiotic-free, hormone-free, grass fed, pastured meat from them rather than the grocery store.  The results have been more than well worth any trouble!  We visit ~*Fire*~ quite often, and we have an understanding – when we’re there, I take over the kitchen.  If anyone remembers the reality show Tabitha's Salon Takeover - it's like that: "I'm ~*Earth*~, and I'm TAKING OVER!" :)

roast turkey and mashed parsnips
with rosemary & garlic, spiced
cranberry sauce, apple slices
This allowed her family to sample the paleo diet on occasion and see just how easy it really is.  And you know what . . . LOL, they now follow it as well!  Does this mean the paleo diet is the “only” way to go?  No.  From what I’ve learned and observed – it’s best to get energy from one source  - either meat+meat fats, or grains.  But not both.  When meat and grains are consumed together, problems arise, both short and long term.  Of course, please consult with your medical practitioner, who will probably tell you I’m full of crap.  ;-) In the meantime, I've uploaded a pics of a couple delicious meals . . .

Does our food clog our spirituality?  I believe so.  When our bodies are filled with wastes and toxins, it slows things down.  Our energy is sluggish.  We have to work harder to connect with our spirituality and many find they *need* to do cleansing rituals first.  It’s recommended to always start with cleansing – it’s not just to cleanse us of our negative emotions, but of the negativity energy that builds up because our bodies cannot release it as easily as we should be able to.  A healthy diet free of toxins and wastes means the body can do what it’s meant to do instead of using too much energy to eliminate the bad: accept and utilize the loving, nourishing energy provided from the ultimate source, enabling us to better send that loving, nourishing energy back out to the universe to help those who need it.

Pagan Writers Press Anniversary Party - Etsy Shop Sponsors Giveaway

Whether you're a writer, and actor, a musician or a jewelry designer, its all a form of art. One of the most wonderful experiences I've had as an author is the outpouring of support from all different types of artists. I have befriended tons of other writers but also actors who are ready to signed on for the lead roles, musicians who are writing the score, but most especially, artisans who have come up with beautiful, original designs inspired by my work. Two of my most loyal supporters have been The Sisters Elemental and The Whimsical Pixie. From bath salts to complete altar sets, these two companies have been backing me since the very beginning. They have even sponsored a few products with other authors at Pagan Writers Press. They are already working on products to go along with Hyde, and I'm not even not writing it yet! When the girls heard about the Pagan Writers Press Birthday Bash, they couldn't wait to sign to sponsor some giveaways. The Whimsical Pixie even introduced me to yet another Etsy shop called S. Marie Essentials, who is excited to join the rank of supporters. Here is a little  info on each company, and the fabulous prizes they are adding to the party.

The Whimsical Pixie offers an array of unique hand crafted items for the altar, home and garden for practicing pagans and the whimsical at heart. New for Spring, The Whimsical Pixie has Sabbat kits, ritual kits and more to enhance your celebrations. She is offering two wonderful prizes to help you get ready for Yule!

Triskele Tree Yule Cards

Send friends and family yuletide cheer with this panel card showcasing a holiday tree comprised of triskeles. The message on the back reads simply “Merry Yule” leaving plenty of room for a personalized message.

They are offset print on thick 14 point paper with a glossy front and an uncoated, writable back side. They measure 5x7” and are perfect for framing. Envelopes are included and the set comes packaged in a clear, re-sealable cello bag.
 Yule Ornament
This unusual ornament makes a great hostess or housewarming gift. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Solstice celebration...Merry Yule.

She was born from what???

This week we'll look at Aphrodite, or Venus. Essentially she is the same in the Greek Pantheon and the Roman Pantheon. For ease, we'll call her Aprhodite! She is one of my favorite Goddesses in many ways! She is the Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and pro-creation.
Legend says that during a battle Cronos cut of Uranus' genitals and threw them in the sea, and from this and the foam of the sea Aphrodite was created. This makes her older than Zeus, :) I bet he wasn't thrilled with this, LOL. Aphrodite was of course beautiful and had the eye of every man. The other Gods feared that she would, because of her beauty created jealousy and war. Zeus married her off to Hephaestus, who wasn't in the least considered a threat.

Aphrodite loved many men, including Gods such as Ares. She is a huge player in the Eros and Psyche legend. She was also the lover of Adonis and his surrogate mother.

Turtles, horses, doves, dolphins, scallop shells, roses, swans and sparrows are sacred to her.

She wasn't the most even tempered Goddess out there, hence her passion with Ares. She loved a good fight, and a tryst of love. She may have been married, but she cheated more times than can be counted. She was lusted after by mortals and immortals alike.

When working with her, you can expect to feel loved and embraced. Remember she is your friend. I wouldn't get overly impatient though, as she can be quite tempermental. Enjoy her and be surrounded by her love. She has a healing quality, so all you need to do is relax and let Aphrodite take over.

Changing it up a bit...

This week I'm going to change it up a bit.  Take a break for this week from the Gods/Goddess blogs.  Like each of us, I've just had an off week where I haven't felt so connected.

So instead this week, I'm going to tell you about an adventure, that sort of is connected to an Earth based path, that my husband has just started.

This adventure started about 4 months ago when we went to the local strawberry patch, brought home ten pounds of berries and ended up putting some in a mason jar in the fridge.  We had forgot about the jar in the back of the fridge until we came back from our trip to Canada.  When we found the jar, it had sealed itself and was fermenting pretty good at that point.  Well, we decided to leave it to see what would happen.

Hubby called his sister, the wine maker of the family, and asked her what her suggestion was with the strawberries in the fridge. The weekend of my oldest son's birthday, hubby's sister brought with her everything that he would need... Including the carboy and yeast!

Fast-forward to tonight. Hubby took the jar of strawberries from the fridge, plus another two and a half pounds, put them into a cheese cloth bag, pressed the juice from all of it, added water, and some other dry ingredients. There is now a 1 gallon starter bucket of "I-hope-it-turns-into-something-good" wine on my counter.  This process is supposed to take up to 4 or 5 months to finish depending on the wants of the dear wine-maker husband. I can't wait to be able to try his wine because if it turns out well, I may just get him a carboy and all the supplies to keep making wine!

An Egyptian Priestess depicted with wine containers (on the left). I found this on vinetalk.com

Have you ever made wine or beer at home? Did you have good success? We'd love to hear from you!  Go ahead and comment here or scoot over to our Facebook Page! The Sisters Elemental Facebook Page.

The God of What?

The God of War! You may ask who the God of War is exactly.  Well, it depends on which pantheon you're working with.  In the Greek pantheon, it's Ares! That is who we are looking at today.

Ares is the only son of Zeus and Hera, although neither of the Gods liked their son very much. Like Thor, Ares is portrayed as a vigorous young man with a beard. The main thing with Ares, is that he's a very handsome God. The attributes of him are that he's determined, fearless, and very decisive. On the other hand though, he's blood-thirsty, and looking for a fight regardless of the consequences.

This is how I have imagined him.  The actor is Kevin Smith, the picture is a screen shot from the show Xena: Warrior Princess.

I find that I work with him the most when I have stress, conflict and confusion in my life.  It seems like through him, I am able to "battle it out" with myself. Of all the Gods and Goddesses that I have worked with, Ares seems to be the one that I find myself calling on the least. Unlike Anubis, Thor, and Loki; Ares comes on strong and fast so it takes very little time for me to start working with him.  I admit, when impatience on my part plays a roll in working with the Gods and Goddesses, Ares is there and ready to go for me.  Ares always seems to bring in something new and teach me something new about my dark side.  Even though he teaches me new things about my dark side, there's always a note of caution to not let it take hold.

Have any of you ever worked with Ares or the other Greek Gods?  We'd love to hear from you!  You can visit us at The Sisters Elemental Facebook Page!

Happy Thor's Day!

Thor... What do we know about Thor other than he was the son of Odin and God of War, Thunder, and Strength?  Well, let's explore him...

Thor was generally depicted as a good-natured, careless, head strong, adventurous, and never got tired of trying his strength.  Not only was he associated with thunder, strength and war, he was associated with oak trees, hallowing, healing, fertility and the protection of mankind.

Now, I'd like to think of Thor as you see him when he's played by Chris Hemsworth. You know the guy, long-ish hair, lots of muscles... Something to drool over.  This is what I see when I envision him at least. But you'll find that he's usually depicted as a red-haired, long bearded man in his prime.  So the image isn't too far off.

When I am working with Thor, I tend to take my time.  Like with Loki, I really never know what I am going to get when I work with Thor.  Being that he's a God of Asgard, and even though he feels to me like he's impatient, he still demands respect, time and patience.  There have been times where I have been impatient with him and I get nothing.  There are other times where I have been overly patient with Thor and have been shown new visions or felt a completely new feeling in reward for my patience. He's really quite fun to work with, especially during storms!  The storms bring a whole new meaning to working with Thor!

I know that I've only touched on part of Thor in this blog but I promise, you'll see more where this came from!  Maybe the next installment I make on Thor should be about his hammer that keeps the Frost Giants away?

I'm happy to read feedback and would love for you to come over to Facebook and visit our page!  The Sisters Elemental Facebook Page

Once again, Happy Thor's Day! ~*Fire*~

Anubis...

Anubis is first seen in the Old Kingdom in pyramid texts. He was associated with the burial of kings and was the most important God of the Dead before Osiris replaced him during the Middle Kingdom.  During a funeral procession, the procession would be headed by Anubis. It was not heard of to have a funeral procession without him.  Often you would see in the tombs and pyramids pictures of Anubis taking part in the funeral rites of embalming and mummification. (See the picture below.)

Anubis is the God that protects the dead and brings them to the afterlife.  He is portrayed as a human with a black jackal head.  The color black is to symbolize the dead and decaying flesh.  Anubis is also portrayed in pictures to be guarding the tombs of the dead.

When I work with Anubis, I feel a very calming presence. Usually he is very patient and thorough.  He doesn't like to be rushed and there is a constant reminder from him to take my time, be conscience about my movements, and follow the ritual or spells to the letter.  He is very meticulous. When I need to work with him, he calls to me louder than any other God or Goddess in my pantheon.

Anubis has always been a large part of my pantheon as far back as I can remember.  I really believe that his presence is so noted because of my past lives in Egypt.

Have any of you worked with Anubis?  I'd love to hear stories of your work with him!

One HUGE step forward...

It's been a long year and a hard journey but now that I know my path and have had time to get down the path a ways, it's time.  It's time to be honest and say what it is.  I am Pagan.

There have been a couple people who have now asked recently about the tattoos on my wrists and I've explained them and that I'm Pagan.

One tattoo is the triquetra and the other one is the ankh.  I've had to explain that these are now a symbol of my path that I've come to know as mine.  It's been a year since Water and I got the triquetra inked on ourselves.  That's when I really started this journey! The journey to the path I'm now on...

I guess I've always known.  I never really believed in the same things that others did.  I never really accepted blindly and believed a Christian faith. I'm Pagan.  I believe in higher powers but I don't believe in a male only dominated faith.  The God and Goddess are Yin and Yang.  I believe to every male side, there has to be an equal female side.

That being said, in my pantheon I personally have Isis, Anubis, Thor, Loki, Freya, Artemis, Ares... These are just a couple of the Gods and Goddesses that I connect with.  Anubis, Thor and Loki are the main Gods I connect with.  Anubis has always been a favorite and I believe that comes from my past lives in Egypt.  Thor has also been like Anubis and I believe that comes from past lives too.  Loki, now he's an interesting God to work with.  He wont' be rushed and at times he becomes quite frustrating in that he takes his sweet time or uses trickery.

In the coming months, I am going to be exploring with you the Gods and Goddesses that I have in my pantheon so that maybe I can help someone else with their own pantheon!

I'm so glad that I've been able to share this all with you!  Blessed Be!

Andrew Paul Weston: Guardian Angels **Giveaway**

In a series of terrifying events, otherworldly beings intervene to save innocent lives. The world community reacts with relief as they realize that angels may in fact exist, and they are diligently protecting us.

But there are those who would seek to stop what they feel is a threat against their livelihoods. How far will some go to battle the Guardians? Is the fairy tale over before it even begins?

Guardian Angels is a powerful and compelling story about the catalyst that has the power to unite society in the hope for a better future. The spark of hope is fragile—can it last?

About the Author

Andrew P Weston was born in the city of Birmingham, UK and grew up in the towns of Bearwood and Edgbaston, eventually attending Holly Lodge Grammar School for Boy’s where he was School Captain and Head Boy.
He was an active sportsperson for the school and a variety of rugby, martial art, swimming, and athletics teams throughout the city.
On graduation in 1977, he joined the Royal Marines and served in a number of roles both in the UK and abroad.
In 1985 he joined the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, serving as a police officer in a variety of uniformed and plain clothed departments until his retirement in 2008.
Over those years, he wrote and illustrated a selection of private books for his children regarding the life of a tiny kitten, called, “The Adventures of Willy Whiskers”, gained further qualifications in Law and Religious Studies, was an active member of Mensa and continued to be an active sportsperson, providing lessons free of charge to local communities.
An unfortunate accident received on duty meant Andrew had to retire early from the police force, but after moving to the sunny Greek island of Kos to speed up his recuperation, he was at last able to devote time to the “Guardian Concept” he had developed over his years in the military and police.
When not writing, Andrew enjoys Greek dancing and language lessons, being told what to do by his wife, Annette, and hunting shadows in the dark. He has not managed to catch any yet, but is sure he came close on 2 occasions.

What you've been waiting for!

Here's the blog that I promised last week. :-)

Canada was exciting, relaxing, and kind of eye opening for us (well, at least me since I can't speak for Earth really). It was exciting because I was experiencing something that I never thought that I would. Relaxing because who wouldn't relax and feel rejuvenated after spending a whole week in nature, on the water, and in the blissful quiet? I fell asleep every night to the sound of the water lapping the shore of our little island! Eye opening because I realized, Earth and I could very easily live together with out killing each other after a few days.  It really seemed like the week flew by with the blissful quiet. Here are some pictures...

View of the lake from the cabin the first night.  Our husbands went out fishing, we got the kiddos down for the night and went on a little walk about getting pictures of the sunset!

My hubby and middle kiddo getting the boat ready to go fishin' after dinner one night!

Such a beautiful full moon reflecting on the lake... We had such a hard time getting pictures of the moon but this one turned out amazing!

A view from the front of the island.

Welcome to the island!

What vacation album would be complete with out Earth's Lola? She was loving the attention and time outside to just run!

Another beautiful sunset! Look at the colors you get!

Earth and her kiddo in a ring sling! This was out on the big rock where we did some fishing, ritual work, pictures, and just chilling out!

Earth took this one the morning the guys got up at 5a to go fishing.  Beautiful sunrise over the bay!

Not the greatest picture, but the blood moon in person was something to see.  It was so beautiful!

Earth's picture of me... Yup, I think she's a great photographer and very artistic!

Last one!  Earth took this picture of me, hubby and kiddos for our Yule/Christmas cards this year! Gotta love the BIG rock!

As you can see from just this small sampling of pictures (there's about 350 more from the trip!), it was beautiful! It was so hard to leave and get back in civilization.  As I sit and type this out, I hear vehicles, highway noise, construction noise, and other environmental noises.  It drowns out all the natural noises that I love to hear.  Hopefully we'll be able to get back up to the island with Earth, her hubby, and kiddo in the spring for Memorial Day weekend! :-)

Hope you enjoyed the pictures just as much as we enjoyed taking them!
